After purchasing Lady of Fashion from B&L Pony Farm in 1995, we very quickly decided that we wanted a Rock "E" son as a herd sire. Enter Philharmonic, a fire-engine-red weanling whom we purchased in 1996. Always intending to have Philharmonic shown, that plan was derailed when a yearling buddy chewed off his tail. So rather than a show career, Philharmonic spent his two year old summer learning how to be a pasture stallion courtesy of four experienced broodmares, and never looked back. Phil sired many foals for us and turned out to be a particularly good sire of mares, who went on to have great show and breeding careers. After keeping several daughters, we eventually sold Philharmonic. No doubt he will continue to be an asset to any Classic Shetland breeding program in the future. |
